Simplicity Pattern Mini Haul

So today I was picking up some Velcro at Hancock Fabrics for a baby dress for the last reborn that I completed, the preemie Stephanie Sullivan sculpt, and it just so happened that the Simplicity Patterns where on sale! I decided not to go overboard but to just pick out three or four that I really thought I could complete in a timely manner, say under a few days.
I decided on four really cute patterns:
1429

4192

1804

2246

Each pattern envelope had at least one thing that I really liked. And I was interested in doing a couple of knit pieces, which I am not an expert at.
The first pattern 1429 that I purchased is the skirt that I was most interested in. The long skirt didn't look dowdy on the model and I think that for a plus size girl like me it would work really well. I came home and thought, "Great! I'll look up other completed projects to see how it turned out."
But to no avail, google search produced no results. The other patterns were easy to find completed projects and so I think that 1429 will by the first project for me to do and maybe do a blog and video review on the end result and process.
I love the fact that each pattern doesn't require a huge list of notions to complete. I think that I am getting tired of that with all the baby and doll clothes that I have worked on lately. So once I wrap up my project for the preemie, I think that I will go back to HF and get the perfect fabric that I spied for this skirt.

Micro Preemie Reborn

I am very excited that I actually had time to finish my preemie! She is so darn cute, I had to snap off some pictures of her. I still have to gloss her lips and nails, and make her some cute outfits, but she is just precious.

I might be keeping her. I know I will keep her while I make her outfits, so we will see about after that. I do think she is very cute and I love the way her painted hair turned out! I don't think that it's perfect, but I keep getting better each time I do it.

I especially love her brows and forehead. And her profile is just the sweetest. I rooted her eye lashes with black mohair. I can't wait to show her little outfits when I complete them!

Practice, Practice, Pra...oh well.

This morning started with me waking up and immediately thinking about my current project. And the fact that I probably won't be able to finish it. Michael decided to go back out on the road and now I am in a rush to get my stuff together for a trip with him and clean up my current craft mess. But anyway, I wanted to show progress on my little "Kyrin" sculpt and that I am painting her hair even before I finished her limbs simply because I wanted to paint her hair so badly.
She was a pretty light kit, so I did have to add some colour to her.
Light mottling veining and creases. Then I added my special layer on her nose, bridge and above her lips to give a rough texture

Here is her hair partially painted.

I had to use flash to find all the finer details that I have tried to depict. I am a very visual learner and after seeing some photos and practicing, I think that I have a good understanding of some basic realistic elements when trying to recreate the individual hairs
Like I said, she is a work in progress and I really hope that I will be able to complete her before we leave. Then I can take her with me and work on her little outfits that I want to make for her.
I was going to start on my two other kits before I decided to go out with Michael this time around, but they will be here when I get back.
